SOLAS Chapter V Regulation 19 - Nav equipment and systems
150 GT+ Magnetic Compass
Nautical charts / ECDIS
ECDIS backup (ECDIS or folio of paper charts)
GNSS receiver or terrestrial RNS receiver (e.g. Loran)
Spare magnetic compass (spare may be a Gyro with battery but such does not fulfil separate Gyro requirement)
300 GT+ Echo-sounder
9 GHz radar (X-band) (must detect SART)
Electronic plotting aid (EPA) to plot electronically the range and bearing of targets to determine collision risk
SDME (through water)
THD (Magnetic, GNSS, or Gyrocompass) to transmit heading to radar, EPA and AIS
AIS
500 GT+ Gyrocompass with display at main steering position
Gyrocompass heading repeater with display at emergency steering position
Gyrocompass bearing repeater
Auto tracking aid (ATA) - to plot automatically the range and bearing of other targets to determine collision risk
3,000 GT+ 3 GHz radar (S-Band) or second 9 GHz radar if allowed by Administration
Second auto tracking aid
10,000 GT+ ARPA connected to device to indicate speed and distance through water
Heading Control System or Track Control System
30,000 GT+ Rate of Turn indicator
SDME (forward and athwartships)
